Sketch Saturday

This is my card for the sketch at Sketch Saturday.

I used Funky Hand papers and an owl template a chipboard branch and the words Happy Birdie

Oops just noticed I forgot to lighten the second photo so it is a bit dark- apologies but had a bit of a disaster when making this card- i dropped a full tray with little fiddly bits in it- you know googly eyes, charms brads etc and they have went all over the place, then covered myself in silicone glue- yuk- so having one of those ooops days!

Cuttlebug Challenge #5

The challenge this week is to make something with an embossed metalic finish.

For this I used the Kars embossing mat for the Cuttlebug and an Angel stencil from Kars also

Please note when you use the mat with cuttlebug Do Not put the mat at the edge of the cutting plates- leave a gap so the plates can start to go throught the machine then the mat will go through easily- if you put it right to the end you might have trouble getting it all through the machine.

I embossed the angel on to metalic foil and then cut it out and glittered it and added this to a shaped card blank with ribbon and the word Peace in gold thickers

Hope the photos show the effect as it all very gold

This is my card for Carol's Sketch above- another great sketch

For this sketch I used one of my new Sugar Nellie stamps that I got at the SECC

The Santa is adorable and I also bought a couple of the new ones as well , which no doubt you will be seeing a lot of.

Had great fun a the SECC and bought lots of bits and bobs to keep me going and a few stamps

Also got to meet another of my FunkyHand team mates Kath who was demonstrating at the Fiskars stand.

Cuttlebug Challenge#4

The challenge this week is to emboss on patterned paper and for this I used papers from the FunkyHand Salt and pepper download and the Traffic Jam and Swirls embossing folders which seemed to match the papers very well.

I then inked over them with black ink and attached to a black card blank

I then cut and embossed one of the cuttlebug butterflies and attached this after inking over it as well and added a couple of jewels, and then the word MUM

2 Sketches 4 You -Laura's Sketch

This is Laura's sketch over at 2 Sketches 4 You this weekand for this one I did a baby card

No idea why I picked a baby card to do- it just sort of felt right with the subtle blue paper which I found hidden in my paper museum- don't know how long I have had it but it's been a while anyway- going to start using up all my papers etc that I have been keeping hidden- must make room for new stuff you know.

I used K& Co papers and penny black stamp and used the cuttlebug to emboss the backing panel

Doing these challenges are a great way to get a head start with Christmas cards cause it normally takes me a long time to get into making Christmas cards for some reason but deciding to make one based on a sketch is a great incentive or I would still be sitting here thinking- Oh i must make a start on Christmas!

This is Kazan's sketch this week and what a great sketch. But yet again and I don't know why- I found myself struggling with the sketch and made three cards before I decided to post this one- believe me the other two are way worse than this one- this is the best of a bad bunch!

Anyway I used pink and green bazil, couple of corners, a Rusty pickle sentiment, snow paper and pink velvet ribbon

Cuttlebug Challenge #3

this week the challenge is create something using the embossing folders other than a card

I made a box using my bind it all machine and used white wool to bind it with.

I used the paisley, bird and swirls and floral screen embossing folders and put a panel on each side of the box . The panels I inked with gold ink and added thickers letters , flowers and a glittered chipboard bird

Special Request

I was asked by a friend to make a 40th Birthday card for her brother, but a card with a twist.

Her brother is homosexual and she wanted a "card that was funny and very gay"- her words

so after running the wording by her this is the card I came up with- not entirely on my own though my Funky Hand team matey Tip Top made the wonderful little men with whips for the card and aren't they just sooo fab.

This card is in no way made to offend anyone and I hope everyone sees the funny side of it- i can't wait to see June's face when I give it to her!

It is always nice to be asked to do something that challenges you and makes you really have to think and this was one of those challenges

For this I made another Halloween Card but it is actually for a friend who was married on Halloween so it is actually their Anniversary card

I used the free download papers from last weeks challenge and added a few embellishments and a Happy Anniversary sentiment

Cuttlebug challenge #2

The challenge this week is to create a Halloween or fall themed project

i went for a Halloween Card- i just love Halloween and really enjoy making Halloween cards

i used the spider web cuttlebug embossing folder and embossed down one side of the card base then tied black fibres with beads down the other side. I doodled round the card then inked over the embossing with silver ink and created a little spider with a circle punch and added little legs.

The sentiment was created on the computer
